People Killed in Battle, Missing, or Prisoners of War

• Clevinger - Missing - When eighteen planes off the coast of Elba flew through an opaque white cloud after returning from a milk run. Only seventeen came back out through the cloud after entering it. Clevinger's plane didn't/come back. 
• Snowden - Dead - Dobbs' airplane is under heavy anti-aircraft fire, where Snowden is severely injured and eventually dead.
• Orr - Missing - While on a mission, Orr's plane got knocked into the water, and he was not found in the wreckage.
• Kid Sampson - Dead - He was cut in half by McWatt's propeller.
• McWatt - Dead - He flew into a mountain.
• Doc Daneeka* - Dead - He was in McWatt's plane.        
• Dobbs - Dead - His plane collided with and smashed into Nately's plane, causing his plane and Nately's to plummet down to the sea.
• Nately - Dead - His plane lost its tail wing when Dobbs' plane collided with his, causing his plane and Dobbs' to plummet down to the sea.
• Kraft - Dead -  His plane exploded in mid-air, during the bombing of the bridge at Ferrara.
• Mudd - Dead - He was shot down by anti-aircraft fire in the bombing of a German highway bridge at Orvieto. 
• Chief White Halfoat - He died of pneumonia at the hospital.
• Hungry Joe - He died in his sleep when he was dreaming, but his cat was on his face.

*He really was not in the plane, but right next to Sergeant Knight and Yossarian, who were seeing the plane disaster. People ignored him and thought he was really in the plane. This is used as comedy and confusion.
